Talking about saltwater flyfishing, it is impossible not to put the focus on flies that imitates shrimps. In Scandinavia we have been using shrimp-patterns from the beginning of the coastal flyfishing, and you won't find a flyfisher without at least one shrimp-fly in the box. Many classic patterns have been created during the time, and the most famous must be the Pattegris which we recently have had danish coastal expert and guide Jesper Lindquist Andersen to demonstrate how to tie. The salmon-pink colored fly can be a bit challenging when the water is clear and the fish are a bit spooky - in this case Jesper will put a more neutral version on his leader - Regnbuesvinet is a more grey/olive/brown and more simple version with a few fluo-spots, but still with the extremely living fibres of the Whiting Spey hackle. Give this version a try - not only for the coastal flyfishing for sea-run brown trouts. All species of both saltwater and freshwater species just loves shrimps.
