Here we will be tying the classic fly Royal Coachman in a streamer version with a marabou wing update! The fly is a great option for both stream and lake fishing and has the pattern been around now for about two centuries. Originally mentioned in 1814 by Thomas Salter, in England. Since then many variants have been devised, the Royal Coachman Marabou being a prime example of this outstanding pattern. Works great here in Iceland, both for brown trout and sea trout. There is something with the colour combination of the fly.... something I can't explain. It's sexy in some way just like the Royal Coachman flies are. The fly is simple to tie and totally worth to keep few of these royalties in your box when go fishing.
