Hook: Gaelic Supreme Mike Martinek 6xl
Thread: Black
Tail: 2 jungle cock nails
Body: Flat silver tinsel
Rib: Silver oval tinsel
Underwing: White bucktail
Throat: White hackle tied on as a collar and tied back
Wing: 4 light (powder) blue
Shoulder: Orange hen hackle
Head: Black
Notes: This was a favorite pattern of John Swan's and was passed along to Mike Martinek to be included in his first book of streamers. It is interesting to note that the pattern has quite a number of options in that several of the materials listed could be one or another. Options for the streamer include the use of either the jungle cock nails or barred wood duck for the tail, ivory floss or silver tinsel for the body and the option of placing a few peacock herl over the wing or not. From these few minor changes, you could see a whole slew of patterns emerge. I chose the pattern becasue of the uniqueness of the jungle cock placed in the tail, not often seen in Rangeley streamers.
The March streamers have now been posted on the auction page and will be open until next Sunday, April 15th. To check out the auctions, visit streamers2012 on ebay.
