My Italian friend, Edoardo Ferrero says, "We sometimes catch the most fish where other people wade." As everyone wants to fish the deepest with the longest casts, the edges and margins never or hardly gets fished. The fish along the edges are used to people and in the rivers the people dislodge a lot of food which makes for easy pickings. The fish along the edges do not get hooked or spooked or pricked as the flies are lifted off the water as it gets close to the edge/side/weed bed so that the fly do not get stuck. From now on, try the edges, or the areas where people will normally wade and see how many fish you catch.
