Simply the Best Place to go for Online Fly Fishing and Fly Tying Dec 5. 2020
So we're getting closer to Christmas, and GFF has an early Christmas present!
Last week I opened access to a new section on the Global FlyFisher: Streamers 365. And yes, if you recognize that name, it's because it actually is the content of Canadian Darren MacEachern's fabulous site streamers365.com.
Darren contacted me a while back and asked if I wanted to take over the site, because he wanted to shut it down and focus on other things. I immediately said yes, but also knew that I'd integrate the Streamers 365-content into the rest of GFF rather than having it as a separate site.
This rich resource on classic NE streamers was a perfect update to the old Streamers section, which dates back to the Raske NE Streamer site, and hadn't seen significant updates in years.
So the S365-content was converted and imported, and is now a part of GFF. When Darren shuts down the "mother site" it will point to the new section on GFF.
You will find a link to the section in the links below where you'll also find Norwegian Viggo Larsson's scruffy, swimming caddis, a bunch of fly pictures I dug out and an article about the fantastic art of Nick Mayer.
Apart from these and no less than 850 new streamer articles, the update frequency is that same as it has been for a while. New articles pop up now and then, and new videos are added all the time.
I have a few new things in the pipeline, and hope to find time to finish some during December, among them an article on my good friend Soren Skarby's fantastic fish photo project. That will come soon.
So for now it's Merry Christmas from here. Stay safe and keep tying threads and fly lines tight.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this. See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.
The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
