Please notice: LeaderCalc hasn't been optimized for small screens. Turning some devices horizontally might make it easier to use, but using a suitably large screen is the best solution.
Leaders able to turn over the larger flies typically used in saltwater.
Bonefish
10 variations- A simple bonefish leader.
The better you can cast and the less wind, the softer mono you can use giving a more delicate presentation.
Aim for a tippet with at least a 12 lbs breaking strength.
Bonefish, Mono to Fluorocarbon
15 variations- A sturdy bonefish leader tied with flourocarbon in the tip section - the last leader section and tippet.
Flourocarbon is less visible, softer, stronger and more abrasive resistant than mono and great for stealthy presentations.
Aim for tippet material with a breaking strength of about 12-15 lbs.
Martin's four section Baltic leader
21 variations- A Baltic sea trout leader, slightly long and sturdy. Useful on shooting heads too.
Requires a fly with a bit of weight to turn over properly - preferably in the size range 8-2.
Use a thinner tippet version for the smaller flies.
Martin's simple Baltic leader
21 variations- A simple three section leader well suited for Baltic style saltwater. Use a leader at least a rod length, preferably longer where conditions allow it.
The leader is well suited for shooting heads and works best with flies in the 8-2 range.
Redfish
5 variations- A medium heavy redfish leader for handling big flies, being able to turn over and present them nicely in shallow water. The longer versions are suitable for calm, clear water.
Saltwater General Purpose
15 variations- A simple and straightforward design, suitable for larger flies.
Tarpon
3 variations- A general but fairly long tarpon leader. We're getting out the big guns here! Notice that the tippet is extra heavy Fluorocarbon for bite resistance (Bt. = Bite tippet). Tying this bit onto the last tapered bit of the leader is usually done with a Bimini knot (AKA Bimini twist).
