Killer bug material

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Hi guys,

I've a question regarding tying Frank Sawyer killer bug.
The body material Frank Sawyer used is the Chadwick 47. This material is no longer available.

Who know's a good subtitute for this material and were can I buys this via the internet?

Cheers,
Lino

Chadwick's lost the dye recipe for 477 some 30years or so back in a fire, the nearest colour to follow it was their 454 but that was discontinued around 20years ago with all the other darning wools they made. 477 comands very high prices indeed - you do see it on ebay now and again, and it often reaches £40.+ per card. I have heard it go to £100+ in some cases. There are numerous substitutes on the market, its just a matter of trying different ones until you are happy with the results.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
